Insurance and Benefits Coverage For Counselling in Kitchener

Counselling or psychotherapy Coverage:  

Most benefits and EAP programs cover counselling or psychotherapy with either a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or a Registered Psychotherapist (RP).  Check with your provider to see if you are covered and what the limits of coverages are.  If you are unsure, we can contact your benefits provider to confirm coverage.


Referral:  

Some companies require a doctor's referral or prescription before they will cover our services.  Check with your provider.  ASSIST does not require a referral for most services.  We will ask for a referral for psychiatric consultation or assessment, but this is not mandatory.

 Counselling and Psychotehrapy is covered under many student health benefit plans.  If you are a full-time student, graduate student or international student you could be covered for our services.  Check with your student benefit plans to see if social work or psychologist services are included in your plan.

Common plans in Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge and Surrounding Area include:

  70% and up to $300 per policy year.

If you are a First |Responder in the following areas you could be covered under WSIA.  

• Police officers (including First Nations constables)
• Firefighters (part-time, full-time and volunteer firefighters, fire investigators and firefighters who volunteer or work for Band Councils)
• Paramedics, emergency medical attendants, and ambulance services managers whose duties include providing direct support for paramedics dispatched by a communications officer on a request for ambulance services
• Emergency response teams
• Correctional officers/youth services workers (including operational managers), and certain workers who provide direct health care services in correctional institutions and secure youth justice facilities
• Workers involved in the dispatch of police, firefighter and ambulance services

You will require a formal diagnosis from a psyhiatrist.  If you do not have a diagnosis yet, we can set up an assessment to get one through our virtual clinic.
