I am trained and experienced in providing mindfulness based stress reduction and supporting people to live skillfully and mindfully.
I work with individuals, couples, groups and people of all ages. I am proudly neurodivergent and also specialize in supporting neurodivergent individuals to navigate their world peacefully through developing tools and strategies and to foster increased self- empowerment.
I am experienced at supporting clients to navigate a variety of challenges including but not limited to addiction, family challenges, disability, anxiety, anger control challenges, mental health concerns, relationship navigation, healthy coping techniques, abuse, trauma, PTSD. I also specializes in supporting individuals who have experience navigating the child welfare system.
I always take on an open, non- judgemental approach to the work I do because I myself have lived experiences of navigating systems and overcoming a lot of challenges in my life. Through my personal journey, I have learned healthy ways to maintain my wellness in order to effectively support others. I also believe that my life experiences and successes provide me with a unique perspective that allows me to connect with and help clients in a real and authentic way.
I have more than 24 years of diverse Social Services experience, including counselling, case management, facilitation, crisis management, supervision, and direct support experience. Additionally, my professional experiences include disability rights, working with youth, children and families, community development, promoting inclusive communities and creating and implementing a variety of support groups and skill building workshops.
I strive to ensure that inclusive practices and approaches are priority in the work I do.
I am a past recipient of the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards in Muskoka for the work I have done in the field of Community Development and Social Activism and a past Muskoka Awards nominee. I am love writing and have authored in international and local publications including work in the International Journal for Direct Support Professionals. I am a RSSW and hold a Social Services Worker diploma from Sheridan College in addition to a variety of certificates including Non- Violent Crisis Intervention, Fierce Conversations, Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Informed Care just to name a few.
